We get a lot of customers who convert from Ghost and Snap Deploy. Since you are looking for something extremely easy to use, you'll want to be sure to look at SmartDeploy. At least 30% of our infrastructure is not domain-joined for various reasons. It also seems that anything geared toward the enterprise with MS has major problems with anything that's not on a domain or can't authenticate to a domain. It was nice and simple when it was Forefront and I was none-too-pleased when they shoe-horned us into Azure/O365. Case in point, we use Exchange Online Protection and you have to jump through all the Office 365 hoops to use it.
We want a clean, simple solution over all else, and MS tools are often monolithic or require a ridiculous number of pre-reqs. That said, my experience with Microsoft tools of this kind has been negative in the past. edu so I'll see what our situation is with SCCM. Their portal is a factor in us not using their backup products anymore. Symantec's licensing portal makes small children and grown men alike cry in despair. I thought Ghost was abandoned, either way I would avoid Symantec products like Black death blankets. You do have a point. Really as long as your licensing is right you can do about anything you want. You could also look at a FOG server, same idea but open source.

you can inject drivers with any of them but SCCM has the most user friendly solution. no friles quick capture and apply, network supported too.

WDS, MDT, or even a PXE boot Imagex solution at all free and would do what you need. wim files which are very versatile to work with. SCCM is a MS package that cost you nothing more. Lastly, we prefer an interface/console that is standalone, i.e. New manager likes pretty reports but it's also nice to audit user machines and make sure no shenanigans are afoot.Ĥ. I've been playing with PDQ Deploy and it's fantastically simple.ģ. This one is becoming more important because we're shifting from doing "everything" images to creating a base image and deploying everything else via package, group policy, etc, as well as moving away from doing upgrades on location. We're also looking at Acronis Snap Deploy 5 for imaging.Ģ. We're Lenovo for desktop and laptop, and particularly with the laptops it struggles with UNDI.
Current version of ghost seems to fight more and more with the latest hardware. We're reviewing and updating our desktop management soup to nuts and one of the aging pieces of the process is Ghost Solution Suite 2.5.
